Social Support for Afghan Refugees and Host Communities (SSARC)

Career Opportunities in GIZ Pakistan

Pakistan is home to one of the biggest populations of refugees. The majority of Afghan refugees call Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) home. Numerous stressors, such as trauma and violence, loss of perspective and livelihood, and uncertainty, are experienced by a significant proportion of vulnerable populations. The social health of individuals, families, and communities is directly impacted by these elements, as is the peaceful cohabitation of the Afghan and Pakistani people. The “Social Support for Afghan Refugees and Host Communities” project aims to increase the ability of line ministries, the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR), professionals, and other key individuals who regularly interact with vulnerable groups to address the psychosocial needs of vulnerable target groups.

Additionally, the initiative provides psychological support services, mostly at “Cohesion Hubs” designed for vulnerable populations, through activities in the community, culture, and sport as well as awareness seminars. The Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will host the project’s implementation.
