Do you want to work for a company whose goal is to stop animal abuse and neglect as an experienced Animal Attendant? If this describes you, the RSPCA of NSW is looking for full-time, part-time, or casual Animal Attendants to join the organisation. In order to maintain a high standard of animal care, you must be driven, vivacious, dependable, and willing to take on a variety of Animal Attendant duties.

We are looking for part-time, full-time, and casual individuals, and the chosen applicant will need to work some weekends.

A non-profit group dedicated to animal welfare is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW). We act as a powerful advocate for animals who are victims of abuse and neglect. With over 500 staff members working across NSW to care for animals, RSPCA NSW is dedicated to the care and wellbeing of animals. We offer a wide range of professional facilities, including fully-stocked veterinary hospitals and our network of state-wide shelters.

About the Role

Animal Attendant Jobs Opportunities in Australia


As an Animal Attendant Superstar, you will:

  • Perform animal care tasks such as cleaning cages/enclosures; medicating; feeding; exercising; assessing animals
  • Provide basic first aid to animals where required
  • Ensure high level communication to managers and colleagues to ensure all information is provided to required parties
  • Provide high level customer service to all stakeholders, including members of the public

Requirements

  • Certificate II Animal Care or equivalent experience essential
  • Previous animal handling skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work rotating rosters including weekends and public holidays
  • The desire to work with people to improve animal welfare outcomes
  • Initiative and ability to prioritise
  • Good organisational skills 
  • Team player 
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to conduct manual handling tasks
  • Resilience – the ability to bounce back from occasional setback
